Stranded magnet wire
Hello, everyone. Today we will talk about something VERY important in the world of electricity -- stranded magnet wire. It is a funny word, or at least an unusual one: inertial. And yet it makes the world go round—or some variation thereof—thanks to its importance for many of the machines and gadgets that we use every day. A deeper dive into the world of what stranded magnet wire is, and why it impacts many different industries. One type of wire is stranded magnet which consists of many small wires twisted together. The wire appears to be like a cable and that is how it got its name because this unique construction makes the wire so much more flexible than using 1 solid piece of conductor. It is often called stranded magnet wire b/c we use it in motors, transformers and such where the windings need to bend over and about without breaking. This flexibility is important because the vast majority of these devices must be properly positioned and, therefore, have to move or adjust in some way — which means a wire has got to keep up with that housing.
